KOQP provides opportunities for children, in their early years, to experience, explore, engage and discover.
Programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of children in their early years.
As early childhood professionals, we believe in the recognition of the unique nature of each child, and family, and the need for children to develop an understanding and respect for ourselves and others. We acknowledge the critical importance of children, parents and educators as partners in a learning community that promotes the well-being, education and development of all children. We believe that interaction, sensitivity and attachment are fundamental elements in providing opportunities for children to realise their potential.
providing a challenging, enriching and supportive learning environment for all children. We aim for children to gain the skills, self-knowledge, values and ability to work as a team. Our centre values diverse cultures and traditions. The centre is aware of, and responds to, changing environments.
At Kids on Queens, all our classrooms operate in a play-based learning environment, and our planned curriculums are all based on children’s individual interests and development. Each room is set up in a way that best supports the children and allows them to thrive.
We offer a government funded 3 and 4 year old kindergarten program available for all eligible children run by our two wonderful VIT registered early childhood teachers (ECTs). Click here for more information about kinder funding.
Child-care subsidy is available to all eligible families. You can find more information about payments and eligibility on the Services Australia website. You can use this child care subsidy calculator to estimate how much you are eligible for.
We are very proud to have a team of educators from different cultural backgrounds. We have several educators who are bilingual and are not shy about sharing their language with the children and families that also share the dialect. There are educators who speak English, different Chinese dialects, Korean, Hindi, Filipino & more.
As a part of the fees, all meals for the day are provided by our in-house cook, who has created a special weekly menu that offers foods from different countries. Any and all food allergies are accounted for, our wonderful cook making alternative versions of the lunch so that all the children can enjoy what’s on the menu.
Kids on Queens is a completely nut and egg free Centre and we take allergies seriously. Any allergies, sensitivities and/or intolerances are taken into account when it comes to our lunch meals and program planning.
Children in all rooms head out on monthly excursions in the local community. They love going down to visit the local Aged Care (preschool class), Merri Creek, Darling Gardens, local parks, local fruit shops, and even down to the bottle recycle station.
We also have regular incursion programs every week, as well as parents/families coming in to spend time in the room engaging with the children in some fun activities and experiences.
Kids on Queens is open 52 weeks a year, only closing on Victorian public holidays.
